Black Excellence Collection - Rosa Parks Limited Edition 2025
Rosa Parks born Rosa Louise McCauley on February 4, 1913 in Tuskegee, Alabama. Rosa Parks was a courageous civil rights activist whose refusal to give up her bus seat to a white passenger on December 1 1955 (70 years ago), ignited the Montgomery Bus Boycott, a watershed moment in the fight against racial segregation. This act of defiance earned her the title "Mother of the Civil Rights Movement." Beyond this pivotal moment, Parks dedicated her life to activism and received numerous accolades for her contributions to social justice. These include the NAACP's Spingarn Medal (1979), the Presidential Medal of Freedom (1996), and the Congressional Gold Medal (1999). Her legacy extends beyond awards, as she became the first woman to lie in honor in the Capitol Rotunda after her death in 2005, solidifying her place as an American icon.
